Better.

Thank you for your supportive comments. I do feel better, even though it looks like he's going back to his ex girlfriend. I really probably knew better all along and was only fooling myself anyway, but it still doesn't change the fact that I love him. . .

Knittingwise. . . I've actually been doing some knitting, but all of it mindless. The black shawl is *this close* to being done, and I cannot wait to finish it. The yarn, which was a WEBS special closeout cashmere/wool blend, is nice enough, though not as soft as you would expect from a cashmere blend (I'm sure it will soften up after a good wash). However, it bleeds like crazy. My hands look like I've been gardening after I work on it. I'm gonna give it a good wash and see how much dye comes out once it's done -- I won't be able to give it away if it bleeds to a faded color that looks old. If that happens I'll just keep it for myself, the yarn was REALLY cheap (19.99 for the one pound cone) so it won't be a big loss. I'd prefer to be able to give it to the intended recipient, of course, but if it looks crappy I won't give it away. Ugh, if that happens I'll have to make ANOTHER black shawl. Yuck.

I also picked up some sock yarn I had bought a long time ago and cast on for a sock. Add this one to the, oh, probably 15 pairs of in-progress socks or single socks I have going. I have TONS of sock yarn (though not nearly as much as some of the bloggers seem to have), but very few finished pairs. This is a Regia Ringel in shades of blue and green and I really like the way it works up. I have the first sock to the heel turn. Who knows if/when this pair will be finished.

Today was a beautiful day, in the 60's and sunny, and I spent a few hours sitting outside Starbucks reading a book, enjoying the sun. I think I may even have gotten some color. And tomorrow it's supposed to snow. What the hell is going on with this weather???

Hi Ivete!
Just writing to say hi, and I am glad you are feeling better. I bet that just the extra dye will rinse out of your shawl, and it’ll still be dark black. Cashmere and wool both hold color well. If you’re nervous about it, you can soak it in hottish-warm vinegar water for awhile before you rinse it, and it should set the dye if it hasn’t been completely set already.

Good luck!

Charlotte’s Web is gorgeous in that color [those colors? Do you actually combine colorways? I don’t know the pattern]! … As for the breakup – glad you feeling better. I know just how you feel. I would not have the guts to write about it publicly, so good for you that you can share. It will probably help you get through it. Hugs :)

Hi Ivette,
Sorry to hear about your breakup. Trust me I know how hard it can be. Right now you need to be good to yourself and take it one day at a time. Knit lots and schedule some fun “me” time for yourself.
Wishing you all the best…

I’ve been there, Ivete. The worst breakup was with someone who couldn’t make up his mind . . . me or the ex? I finally woke up and took control of my life. Made a big move from the Midwest to Boston, found a job I really liked, and took the time to just be me. Within a year, I met my future husband and I wasn’t even lookin’. In addition to the helpful advice, I say walk, run, lift weights. Do something physical every day. I can’t tell you how important this is for me. Your brain needs a positive adrenaline rush right now. Feed it! (Oh, cut to 20 years after the breakup. I find the guy via the internet. I send him a note. We correspond. He ended up marrying someone 15 yrs. his junior when he was in his late-30’s. Get this, he met her when she was 18 and he was 33! The creep! He said “she keeps me in line!” Oh for god’s sake! And to think I used to cry my eyes out over him. Argh!!!!)
