THIS is what I want to make out of Rowan 36. I've been told by two separate very experienced knitters that I've really lost it this time. I'm imagining it with black as shown, but instead of white I'm thinking of doing a pale tweedy brown, so the coat will go with everything. And if I finish it, I'm going to get it professionally lined so that it really is a coat instead of a heavy sweater.
Anyone want to knit along on this torture device?
Ivete, call or write me. I have the shell for Chiagu done!
Do I want to join you? Um… no. But I am the nut who collected all the yarns I need to make Rowan’s Ruby, from, I think, magazine #16. Imagine a collage of about 15 different Oriental rugs. i may have to save that one for my retirement!
Does it count if I knit KF’s Pebbles as my Fair-isle Lined Coat Knit-Along?
Yup. You’re nuts. (But it would be so beee-u-tiful in the black and brown….)
It can’t be as scary as it looks…can it?Phew. I’d join you but considering I haven’t made a whole sweater yet, I’d be even more crazy. Good luck!
‘Rather you than me,’ is my reaction, but then I’m thinking of attempting Old Tile from Rowan 34 so that makes two of us…. Have you thought of doing the coat in a regular houndstooth check instead?
C’mon, knit it. Just so I can watch.
I would join ya if I didn’t have so many in progress projects at the moment. But I figure it isn’t so bad since who is going to know if you make a color mistake in that lovely random pattern! And the colors you mentioned sound perfect!

Ivete-Do you really see this as a technical challenge? It certainly looks wild and you’d sure have to keep a close watch on the chart, but it’s nothing more than 2-color Fair Isle as far as I can see. No?
