I have the attention span of a gnat.

I was just saying I have to focus, clear out, that sort of thing. I had this whole plan, yet again, for not buying (much) new yarn, finishing projects that have been waiting, and not starting any (well, not too many) new things.

It's been two weeks since this epiphany and I did destash some yarn and block a shawl that's been waiting forever. So it looked like I was on track. Then last night I started a scarf because I promised one as a gift and it needs to be done by the middle of next month. I used stash yarn, so I was feeling pretty good about myself. Then I started to consider making a shawl to match my dress . . .

Well, aparently all I needed was that small taste of New Project seduction. Today we got a shipment of Classic Elite Embrace at the store, including two colors that are exclusive to us. . . and one of them is shades of pink. There was just no resisting, it insisted on coming home with me. And now it's on its way to becoming a new shawl. See?

Sometimes when I start a new project, I know just what I'm going to make. This was not one of those times! I wanted to buy just one skein of this yarn, so I knew I couldn't make a sweater . . . it took a few tries, but now it's well on its way to a possibly successful top-down triangle shawl, with cable details (mirrored for symmetry, natch) and eventual dropped stitches. I didn't know I had this idea in my head before it started, but now that it's reality I really like it! I already knew I love the yarn, but this color is just amazing, we're gonna sell out of this in no time!

Oh, and as for the shawl to go with the dress? After walking around the entire store holding a shoe up to different yarns to find the right color, it was decided that a) that color doesn't exist in yarn and b) I'm better of sewing a shawl out of fabric. So tomorrow after work I'm going fabric shopping. And no, I'm not sure this will work out. I'm not much of a seamstress. I promise to document the attempt for posterity.

I'm also going to look at another apartment tomorrow morning. Think "no shower in the kitchen" thoughts for me!
