Sick and injured

Well, apparently my getting sick has nothing to do with the season. It doesn't even feel like winter yet but I sure as sure have my first cold. I know exactly who gave it to me, too! It's one of the perils of working in retail, people come in sick and pass it to around.

Add to this that I twisted my knee pretty badly yesterday morning, and you have one grumpy Ivete. I was getting off the bus to go to work like I do every day and the woman in front of me paused on the last step, which made me step on her heel as I was walking down the steps. I realized it immediately so I tried to step back so we wouldn't both flip out of the bus onto the sidewalk, and managed to hop out on my feet but in doing so something happened to my left knee. When I landed on the sidewalk my leg wouldn't support my weight and I had a sharp pain that was so bad it made my eyes tear. I crouched on the sidewalk next to the bus for a few seconds trying to get a hold of myself, and when I was finally able to stand up I hobbled the half block to work, only to walk in and sit down in the first chair and start bawling like a child. This is my bad knee which has been injured a bunch of times, most recently when I bruised a tendon/ligament about 6 months ago. I thought I was going to end up in the emergency room, but after icing it and taking Aleve it subsided into a dull pain. I've been staying off it and sitting with my knee elevated, but it's definitely still sore.

For once it wasn't my klutziness that caused my injury, so that's the silver lining in this story. That's a piss poor silver lining if you ask me.

If there's any sun tomorrow I plan on getting a new pattern up . . .

Ough! I can sympathize with knee pain and troubles. Does the “good” knee ever get hurt? Not in my experience. Take care of yourself, and try to stay off of it as much as possible. Besides, you have to rest for the cold.
