Interweave Crochet Spring 2007

Either I'm really going through something here, or the crochet publications are getting a lot better lately. We got the preview issue of the new Interweave Crochet, and there are 2 projects I MUST make. You can see the preview here. I absolutely love the Beachcomber Tunic (to be fair, this one is half knit and half crochet!) and am certain I need to make that soon. It calls for DK weight yarn so I'm thinking of making it in the new Twinkle Cruise yarn, which is a super soft blend of silk and cotton that comes in gorgeous colors. There's a cobalt blue that I've been eying at work that would be perfect for this sweater, but I'm worried the silk/cotton might be too heavy and stretch out . . . will have to swatch the crochet before I check it out.

But the project I'm going to start NOW (you know, cuz I don't have enough projects yet) is the little cap sleeve shell that isn't shown in the online preview. It is done in a mix of Glace and Zen, so I'm thinking of using Colinette Giotto instead. And of course I have Giotto in my stash, but it's a really dark color that I don't think is appropriate for such a light summery top . . . so of course I have to buy more yarn.

See, if I had an even bigger stash, it would include more summer weight yarn choices! ;o)

Oh, and I also like the Seafoam Vest a lot. This issue is well worth buying, I think it's going to become one of those issues that's sought after for a long time to come!
