Nutso knitting

As further proof that I seem to have lost my mind, I started yet another sock:

Jitterbug sock in progress

This one is knit using the new Colinette Jitterbug yarn that everyone's talking about in the forums. I LOVE IT! It's thicker than Koigu but not as stiff as STR and it works up into the softest, squishiest of socks! This is the Fruit Coulis color and I'm using 60 sts on size 1 needles, a standard heel flap sock with K1, Slip 1 heels. A lot of people have expressed concern about running out of yarn for a decent sized pair using this yarn but I'm pretty confident I'll have enough. I've actually finished the first sock (shown above) and am almost done with the second, so I'll be finding out soon!

Yes, you read that right. I'm going to have a PAIR soon. Shocking.

This weekend was absolutely gorgeous here in NYC and I just had to go to the park and sit in the sun. Adam and I took a blanket and a small picnic and enjoyed the sun while I knit on my sock and he read his book. There were WAY too many people there but it was still enjoyable.

Speaking of nice weather, have you seen Bonne Marie's latest pattern, Nicole? I already bought the pattern but am having a hell of a time finding yarn to use. Every so-called DK weight cotton blend I've tried knit up way too holey at 5.5 sts/inch (for my taste!). Any suggestions for a summer weight blend that's a true DK weight? I can find options in 100% cotton but I can't use cotton because it hurts my hands too much. TIA!

You’re scaring me with a) another sock in progress and b) that you’ve cast on for the second one of this. Sorry, I have no suggestions for cotton blend yarn.

Have you tried Calmer? Do you think that would make a nice fabric at 5.5? Maybe that would be too tight…
