One day project sneak peek

This is a sneak peek shot of my latest FO, the Simplicity Top from the new Interweave Crochet. I all of a sudden remember what was so good about crochet: It's ridiculously fast! I finished this top in exactly one day (granted it was a day I didn't have to go to work, but still!) and I'm happy with it and it's pretty cute. I'm not 100% convinced that I like the tone on tone stripes, but they'll have to do because I'm not crocheting this thing again. It looks so simple but it's actually a pain in the butt because you use two different yarns, on different sized hooks, and you have to switch every single row. It was awkward and annoying and I'm not sure the fabric gains much from all this extra work, but anyway. It's done!

I used 6 skeins Berroco Glace in Cadet and 2 balls Berroco Zen in Kabuki Blue. The Cadet is the perfect shade of cobalt blue, so on trend for spring! Lucky coincidence, really, since I ordered it online sight unseen. I really hated working with the Glace, it twists up like crazy and you have to continually stop to untangle the mess. The Zen is as lovely as any similar ribbon, I've worked with several company's versions of this kind of matte/shiny ribbon and have always liked the results. And Zen is even nicer now because it comes in balls! The last time I used this yarn it still came in hanks, I'll take a ball over a hank of ribbon any day!

Good FO shot tomorrow, hopefully. And a shot of the yarn I bought today and last week (oops) and the fabric I got today. Yes, fabric.

What, you don't think it's good to add yet another hobby to the list?

I love how it looks – caught my eye in the magazine as well. Are my crochet skills up to it? Won’t know until I try – watch that be years from now. It’s like my netflix queue, aaaahhh the backlog!
