FO: Nicole

I finally got the ends woven in on Nicole and so I can officially call her an FO. It's a bit ridiculous to leave something that literally has 5 minutes worth of work left sitting in the unfinished pile for months . . . but sometimes, if I admit the truth, I know exactly why some projects linger for so long. In the case of Nicole, it's because once I blocked her and tried her on I knew I'd never wear her. She doesn't flatter my figure, the neckline is too square for my taste, and I can't find anything to wear under her that looks like it's supposed to be there. I still like the design and I think the finished project is very pretty, but it's not my style. Yet another example of knitting I love but that doesn't fit into my wardrobe/look. Too bad.

Project specs:
Pattern: Nicole, from Chicknits
Yarn: 5 skeins Rowan Wool Cotton in color SH954
Needles: US size 6
Started: May, 2007
Finished: August 23, 2007

Well to be sure, I’d give anything for this pattern.
And would be proud to wear it as much as I could
with either my jeans or slacks..

I really like the color of it and the style..
But I can understand it may not be for everyone.

I am going to have get this pattern..cuz I love it.
Was it fairly easy to knit? What level would it be?

Thanks again for sharing it with us.

Can’t tell you how many FOs I have that fit that category. Still, Nicole is very pretty. I’m sure you’ll be able to find someone whose tastes fit her better. I actually almost never wear any of the sweaters I knit. I think that’s why I like designing so much. I get the knitting part, but don’t have to deal with the never wear it guilt! ;)

Oh no! I feel for you. That is what happened to me with Coachella, although it’s a much easier knit than Nicole, and I hadn’t bothered to finish before making the dreadful decision. You did an excellent job — so beautiful.

Do you have someone in your life that Nicole would flatter? It’s such a nice piece, and the wool cotton will make it a joy to wear all year… I give things that are too large or turn out not to flatter my little frame to my mom or sister, both slightly larger than I am with real shoulders! I hope someone can enjoy your work!

It is beautiful, though!

Aww what a shame for you and Nicole. Hopefully there will be some way to salvage such a pretty knit, too many good projects disappear into the closet never to be seen again. That’s probably why baby knitting has become my new obsession, they can’t say no! hehe

Too bad that you won’t wear it. It looks great!
