Hooded Scarf?

Another designer piece to copy? (and grey again, maybe that's the trend I'm really drawn to . . . ) This scarf has pockets on the ends, which is nothing new to us knitters, and a hood in the middle, which has also been done but is far from commonplace -- and I've never seen a knitting pattern for one that I actually wanted to make. Considering I'm knitting my 4th cowl right now, I guess I have winter accessories on the brain!

I think what makes this hooded scarf particularly effective is how thin the material is and how oversized the proportions are (it's 10" wide x 8' long).

What say you?

I attempted to make one last year (see here. I gave it to my sister—she seems to like it though claims the alpaca sheds.

I like this example far more than any I’ve seen, I think because the proportions are so large. It looks like a big scarf that just happens to be wrapped just so to create a hood, rather than a hood with attached scarf. Very nice.

I like the idea, but I think at that size it would have to be a pretty fine gauge to avoid being too bulky under a coat. (That’s not a bad thing, but it’s a lot of yarn and a lot of knitting.) If you look at the Grownup Bonnet from Knit 2 Together, it’s bulkier, but the scarf part is very narrow.
