FO: October Leaves Mitts

So if you follow me on Twitter, you may have read my excited post when I found someone to be my photographer for my knitting patterns. Yesterday was our first "photo shoot" and I took a BUNCH of accessories to shoot. Some of these items have been done for months but I just never managed to get a decent photo to use! My friend Jess takes beautiful pictures and has incredible style, so she's the perfect person to take these pictures for me. And the fact that she'll accept lunch as payment doesn't hurt either! If you're a New Yorker you'll want to hop over to her shopping blog, Boutiqued, where she reviews boutiques in the NYC area. She uncovers stores I've never heard of and takes awesome photos so you know what they're about before you venture out there. Check it out!

Back to the photo shoot: I had her photograph the Runner's Watchcap (pattern will be out later this week!), the new slouchy hat, a second Vimioso cowl, and some mitts I knit last summer. I threw in these October Leaves Mitts just because I wanted some nice FO shots of them because I love them so much.

I keep these fingerless mittens on my desk at work for those days when the office is way too cold for comfort. They fit perfectly and the color makes me smile every time I see them! The little leaf detail on the thumb is really beautiful and I find myself inspecting it over and over again. It's rare that knitting does that to me anymore so that's pretty exciting for me!

The only modification I made to the pattern was to mirror the cable on the outside edge on the second mitten. You all know I'm a freak about symmetry, right? Right! So it was a no-brainer for me to switch that cable. These knit up super-quick and were really fun. No wonder there are almost 200 finished pairs of these in Ravelry (with 800+ queued!) . . .

Those are so pretty and the photos are lovely. All your recent projects is making me want to try Kogui! I didn’t know you were looking for a photographer. I would have recommended myself! ;-)
