Poor little Brownie

This out-of-focus shot of Brownie is very appropriate for this sad post. Today I had to take him back to the shelter. He is on his way into the hospital. He has refused to eat for three days and keeps vomiting up nothing every 30 minutes or so. I took him to the vet yesterday and bloodwork came back ok, so we think he may have a blockage. I am so upset, I cried the whole way back to the shelter. Of course they told me it's not my fault and I guess I believe that, but I can't help but feel responsible since whatever's wrong with him apparently happened while he was in my care. And as I'm sure you can tell, I've gotten kind of attached to the little guy (understatement much?).

I'm getting periodic updates from the shelter and keeping my fingers crossed that they'll be able to figure out what's wrong with him and get it fixed ASAP. Poor little Brownie.

Coughing up “nothing” is a common trait among Chihuahuas. Ours does it when she gets excited. She snorts a bit and then starts hacking. This is our signal to calm down the play, as it has gotten too rambunctious. In regards to the refusing to eat, Ebby is an extremely picky eater and apparently, Chihuahuas can be very stubborn. Since the blood work looked fine, I would not be too worried about either of these things. It is certainly nothing you did. I so wish I was there to help you, because it sounds like Brownie is a LOT like Ebby! He will be ok.
