Took a short break from the purple blanket and finished up this sweater, which has sat since late November waiting for me to add "sleeves" to it. Pepper wasn't too happy with the photo shoot but I know he appreciates the warmth of a 100% wool sweater (and yes, those are yarn ends that still need to be woven in). The yarn is Stahl Limbo, it is two ply that changes colors in each ply differently, giving the finished item a striped AND tweed look. I like it a lot. I used the Patons dog sweater book, this is the cover sweater (shown in sripes in the book) -- of course I made some changes. Namely, my gauge was WAY different from their pattern gauge: this yarn is a light worsted so I used size 7 needles, whereas the pattern is written for more of an aran weight. So I just used a larger size's instructions, using their cast-ons and bind offs, but using the length measurements from the size Pepper should be. He's a very small dog, weighs only 13 lbs, so he's usually the smallest size. I do usually have to make the back longer than the smallest size calls for, though, since he IS a dachshund. Notice the Patternworks catalog in the background? ;o)
