Heath Question & Knitty

The question from the comments was how did I like knitting Heath: I liked it! It went super fast b/c I knit a lot of it on the trip up to Boston & back while my sister drove this past fall. Even at that gauge it flew off the needles. I have plans to make it again in a different yarn as I really like its shape but the yarn I used, which I'd had lying around forever, is kind of crappy. It's a 50/50 blend of wool/acrylic and it's just kind of cheap feeling (I know, I know, I'm a snob). Anyway. The next one will probably be in Rowanspun, as I love that yarn.

Oh, and st st sweaters are my favorite. I get very little knitting done unless I'm at work, and the st st projects are the ones that get done. I don't find it boring at all, it's repetitive and soothing when I'm about to tear my hair out at the 3rd hang up phone call in a row (which just happened a few minutes ago).

New Knitty's out!!! I really like Kyoto, I may just have to make that. But not in Cotton Classic. Yuck.

Kyoto’s the one that jumped out at me, too! But what’s wrong with Cotton Classic? I’ve never used it.

I don’t like Cotton Classic b/c, first it’s cotton (and I hate cotton to knit with), and second, it makes a very heavy finished item. I made the shapelyl tank w/ it last year and 5 skeins weighed down so much that I’ve never worn it. I think summer items benefit from a cotton blend or a silk blend, 100% cotton is too heavy IMHO.

Ooh, thanks for the info. I’ll remember that when I go to pick out yarn for Kyoto…
