Remember way back when I teased you with finishing photos of a vest I was doing for a yarn manufacturer? No? I don't blame you, it was in MARCH, after all. Well humor me and pretend you remember, cuz now I can show you what it looks like!
This vest was knit in just 3 days and is one of the patterns in Tahki's Torino & Torino Bulky Fall 2006 Book. This yarn is their new basic extra-fine Merino which knits up at 4.5 sts/inch (it also comes in the exact same colors in a bulky weight, perfect for making twinsets). The yarn is amazing to knit with, really springy and soft with great stitch definition.
I really like the finished vest, which was designed on the fly. I was asked for something easy to knit with cables, and at the time I was obsessed with a picture I had of this type of button placket . . . and somehow it all came together in 3 days of furious knitting! I handed it in without buttons and told them they could pick them themselves, suggesting either brown ones of a casual country look or funky ones for a more urban feel. They picked these which turned out to be the perfect in-between look, they're casual without looking cheesey.
I'm really pleased with how this turned out! I may have to make myself one of these, since I didn't get to keep the sample . . .
Great design! Definitely am going to add it to my project list

That is a really cute vest and something that is very wearable. Great job!
Aaaaaahhhhhh! I love vests, and that is fantastic — the button placket is spot-on. I will look for this book.
Very nice – I like the placket – unique in an understated sort of way.
That is gorgeous. Now I’m trying to figure out if a merino vest is really as impractical as it sounds for my hot climate…

Saw that yarn at my LYS and loved, loved, loved it. Unfortunately, the yardage/skein is a little on the low side and it made the project I had in mind a little too pricey….even for me.
But wow the fine merino is gorgeous.
