Baroness Beret: Finished but for the blocking

Remember when I mentioned wanting to knit myself some new berets, specifically because all my winter gear is wildly-colored and mismatched? Well, this perfectly illustrates why this is such a problem for me:

This is the Baroness Beret, knit in some leftover Classic Elite Embrace that was hanging out in my stah. Does it match anything else I already own? No. Do I love it anyway? YES!

Lots of Ravelers have knit this hat and many added another repeat to the straight section in order to make a slouchier hat, so I knew immediately that I would have to do the same. My head is huge and I have lots of hair, so I generally need to make my hats bigger than a "normal" person would. So I added a 3rd repeat to the lace and proceeded blindly, only trying the hat on once I was almost done with the crown decreases. You know where this is going, right?

It fit like a skull cap!

Apparently adding 50% more length wasn't enough for my huge noggin. You know how much I had to increase this by in order to get the fit I was looking for? 300%!!! I can hardly believe it myself. My head can't be that big, can it?

No modeled pictures until I block this thing, right now the top sticks out in weird peaks and I really don't want to show you how strange I look wearing it!
