Finished Koigu Socks

I bound off and wove in the ends on this pair of socks yesterday! Woohoo! First FO of '09!

I knit these significantly longer than I make most socks just because I felt like using up all the yarn . . . which came back to bite me in the butt because I ran out of yarn on the second sock! I did not expect that AT ALL, although in hindsight I should have seen it coming because my gauge was tighter on the second sock . . .

Which means that the second sock is smaller than the first AND features 2-row stripes of some coordinating brown Koigu I found in the bottom of the sock yarn stah. I intended to undo the ribbing on the first sock to make it match, but then when I thought about digging for the woven-in ends and picking out all that sewn bind-off, I decided that slightly mis-matched socks were preferable to needless knitting torture. And if this picture is any indication, the brown is barely visible, so I made the right decision!!

In other news, Arnold got neutered on Friday . . . did you know that a puppy can sleep in this position?

Yeah, me either.

And one more for good measure, I couldn't resist taking tons of shots of him in his silly collar:

Project specs:
Pattern: Toe-up socks with standard toe and short-row heel, 60 sts around with increases at the calves
Yarn: 2 skeins Koigu (color unknown) plus scraps of brown
Needles: US size 1
Started: November 10, 2008
Finished: February 8, 2009

Cute socks and even cuter puppy shots! I think babies in general can sleep in the most insane positions! Arnold seems to prove that point!
I hope you have a nice weekend!

Pretty socks!

Rhett sends “get well fast” wishes to Arnold! He remembers that happening, although he didn’t have that snazzy collar. That picture of him sleeping is precious!
