Skier's Hat (aka Runner's Watchap)

This is a pretty funny picture of me that I took with my iPhone while skiing last week -- to show you my knitwear! I wore my new Runner's Watchcap (pattern written, just needs photography) and my City Cowl, but I have to admit that I didn't have the most gorgeous knitwear on the slopes. There were some truly impressive pieces on some of those skiers!! I saw one woman wearing an earflap hat done in intricate colorwork that pretty much took my breath away. I wanted to talk to her about it but I wasn't able to ski over to ask her if she'd made it . . . because I don't have that kind of control on skis. At least not yet!

I think it's funny how windburned my face looks in this photo, I swear the photo looks worse than I really did IRL. It's also pretty funny how the windburn seems to end in a straight line under my eyes, I have no idea how that's possible. It's not like I wore the hat pulled down over my eyes while skiing down the mountain . . .

I'm working on a new, slouchier hat right now, using two strands of Shibui sock yarn held together. More on that next time!

I would have hollered across the slopes… lol. Then again, it’s amazing what you can get away with when you have a Southern drawl… not sure if I should be happy or insulted really. If I hear them mutter “Bless her heart” when I walk away, then I’ll be insulted.

I can’t wait to see your project. It sounds fun and I have some sock yarn that is screaming to be put to good use. It is self striping though so a hat would be a cool alternative.
