Yarn update!

Posted on December 23, 2015 | 0 Comments

A brief description of the colors that were added in November and December:

P133B

These skeins reminds me of the leaves and trees changing their colors in the fall.

P300

Browns with  hints of beige and peach.

P439

There are so many gorgeous layers of purple, the color is quite stunning.

P524

This pink/purple is an example of the wild coloration that can happen while dyeing Koigu.

P854

Such a pretty combination of moss with rust/burnt orange. Another winner for the fall.

P123A

Lots of bright colors and some of the skeins have a chalkiness to the look.

P324

This color with its celery green, muted yellow and purpley pink makes me think of spring.

P333

To me this is an earthy, southwest color way. It's like finding bits of turquoise in the desert.

P357

Olive brown with an intense pink as a very subtle accent.

P637

Some call it fuchsia, others call it magenta. it's a gorgeous intense pink and it works for any project you have in mind.

P862

Shades of oranges and purples, very pretty!

August Yarn Update

Posted on August 13, 2015 | 0 Comments

Here are 6 colors of Koigu KPPPM that will peak your interest as we approach the end of summer:

P738 - The famous Koigu stippling technique is shown off here, in orange and green.  Looks messy right? However this palette knits up in a subtle way.  Fun for baby items and I definitely see an adult pair of socks.

P353 - At first glance this is an orange and rust colored hank of yarn.  But when you spend a little bit of time with it you realized there's this gorgeous mauve violet that is running through the yarn.  The violet gives this color way unexpected depth. It would be a spectacular shawl!

P219 - Can a color be described as "crayons in the mud"? Most of the colors are green, brown, orange and gold The colors are darker and it seems to tell me that fall is approaching.  A baby blanket or perhaps a circle shawl? It would be terrific as part of a linen stitch scarf.

P151 - The mauve pink, blue and green combine to make a quiet color combination.  And that makes it perfect for that person that doesn't like "loud". Think about a scarf or cowl. Or a beautiful sweater!

P419 - The return of an oldie - the blues of P419 has been in the shop before.  I found a few more skeins and thought Chiagu fans would like buy some more. It will also make an appearance in a few yarn kits.

P810 - my personal favorite!  I am a jewel tone girl and I love bright rich colors.  The blues, reds, and purples are stunning. If I were to knit this color I would definitely make something that I can look at all day long.

I hope to have another shop update in about 2 weeks.  Thanks for reading!

It's time for a yarn sale!

Posted on July 31, 2015 | 0 Comments

Hello!

As summer is heating up all the weather forecasters are just a bit too enthusiastic to declare a heatwave in New York . Oddly I've been keeping cool by thinking, working with and writing about yarn. I thought you'd like to see the new colors in the shop. And it's about time for a sale - use the code welcomeback and save 15% off any yarn purchase.  The sale runs until August 11.

P146

The dyers at Koigu produce so many color ways that are described as "rainbow". P146 is a rainbow, and it's predominately yellow, not so much blue, and lots of red violet. This is definitely a color for summer!

P163

For some men this color is considered "bright". P163 is a combination of green, rust and blue, the green is a bit bright but all the other colors are not. Works well against those blacks, navy and greys. Consider it for a boy's sweater to a man's hat or socks.

P347

Raspberries with your chocolate cake? Or would you prefer cherries? P347 is mainly pink and brown, a pretty and classic combination. This does not stripe, rather you get a few stitches in each color.

P518

Can looking at a color calm you? P518 is a sea green with splashes of blue and a hint of brown. P518 would make a beautiful sweater!

P879

P879 is one of Koigu's new color ways for 2015. As I worked with the yarn I envisioned a loose scarf or wrap, worn casually, maybe with a jean jacket (do folks still wear those?).

P928

Koigu is know for some wild color combinations and this is one of them. Imagine a bouquet of irises and daffodils with a red tulip of two. Try P928 for that purple or blue that needs a kick.

Until next month's colors.

Susie
