So today was my 3rd day at my new job. . .At
!!
I'm the assistant store manager and I'm already having a great time. A job I'm qualified for and good at AND that I enjoy at the same time? Is this truly possible? Aparently!!!!! Trust me, I still hardly believe it myself!
Possibly the best long-term benefit of this job is that I'm not sitting in front of a computer killing my wrists for 10 hours a day. The last 3 weeks I've typed so little that my hands hardly hurt at all, it's a wonderful change and I hope it stays this way! Anyone who's ever worked in a LYS can tell you that you hardly get to knit at all in the store, so my knitting time isn't increasing but my computer time is definitely down significantly.
The only negative aspect is the commute -- a bus and then two subways, takes an hour to 1.5 hours. I'm sure I'll get used to it but it's quite a change from jumping into your car whenever you feel like it.
Wow, you’re working at String? You’re right around the corner from my new job! I’ll have to stop in soon. Congratulations!
Just visited Strings web page — it sounds great! I know you won’t have much time to knit at work, but you will be surrounded by all kinds of calls to creativity. And I hope at least part of that commute will let you knit — think socks, hats, scarves.
You’re my hero! Congrats on a rock-the-house job!
Congrats on the new job! At least the good thing about the commute is you don’t have to drive & you can always knit on the way!
(this is Lisa from the Starbucks if you remember me)
Sounds like a dream job to me—I’d love working at a yarn shop! Congratulations!
