This weekend I started collecting yarn for the Vogue Map of the World afghan. This will obviously be one of those projects that takes half a lifetime to complete, but I think it will be worth it! Check out Mare's version of the blanket to see my current inspiration!
For my version I changed the background blue from the teal color they used to a more navy blue color, which I think looks more like the ocean. I have this beach coverup that I've always loved, and I'm changing the colors of my Map to resemble it. Here's a picture of one corner of the coverup:
I will be adding that bright green color, the magenta, and the turquoise as the main accent colors, and the yellow and orange as the smaller accent colors along with purple.
Another thing I'm doing different is that I'm going to wash the yarn first to soften it up. I'm using the called-for yarn, Tahki Donegal Tweed, but it's not that soft straight from the hank. After washing it softens up A LOT, though, so I'm just going to start with the softer yarn. My hands don't like knitting with tough yarn. =)
Hi, I’m a stranger, sorry to post blindly to your blog, but I have a knitting periodical dilemma. back in June/may (http://ivete.typepad.com/knotology/2004/05/wow_wow_wow.html) you mentioned the issue of VK that had the chair cover patterns. I was wondering if you ever found out which issue that is? I have a straight run (or i thought i did) and i can’t find it and the thing is driving me up the wall.
thanks! :-)
