Fall Vogue

We got out preview copy of the Fall Vogue in the store yesterday and I have to say I think this one's a winner! As usual there are a few weird pieces in there, but there are also a few I'm really considering making. Like this one:

It's a simple v-neck, then you knit a wide braid cable and sew it into the neckline! Genious! The big problem with this one is that's its knit at 6 sts/inch, and you really need to make it in something squishy so those thick cables will mush up enough (they used alpaca), so I probably will never make this b/c I can't knit on such small needles, especially not on very soft yarn. Too bad.

There is also an article on entrelac which comes with a knee-length entrelac coat that I am CRAZY about. There's no picture of it in the Vogue preview but it's stunning. It's got a kind of 50's vibe with a wide ribbed turned back collar and a belt worn high at the waist, and it's done completely in entrelac. At 5 sts/inch, it needs to be done in something light enough not to stretch (they did it in Louet 100% merino which I personally think is a mistake, that baby's gonna GROW with even light wear), maybe something with a mohair content and good yardage to the gram. I'm probably not making this one either but it sure is fun to look at!

And for the more traditional knitter there are like 5 patterns for socks in this issue! I can't remember ever seeing socks in Vogue before, the black and white knee socks are my favorite.

That braid sweater is pretty cool! I am not sure if I would have considered it without you pointing it out. Its classic, but has just enough interest. and if the braid ceases to charm, it can always be replaced by a rib!

I think this is my favorite of the patterns on the internet preview. The neck detail is spectacular. I had a feeling it would be a 5.5-6/1" yarn.

Ooh, thanks for the heads up on the new Vogue. I’m definitely interested in checking this one out!
